Proficiency Testing 2014

Chemistry

Chemistry

VFAD has recently participated in proficiency testing organized by Test Veritas S. r. l. (Italy), “Progetto Trieste 2014, 2nd round” for the beta-agonists (salbutamol, clenbuterol and terbutaline) group analysis (confirmatory) in swine urine (test identity: U1423/GA) by using LC-MS/MS.
22 laboratories took part in this U1423/GA test; we are 1 of the 20 with a satisfactory result of z-score: 1.08 for clenbuterol (z-score <2 represents a satisfactory result). Salbutamol and terbutaline were not detected by our laboratory as they were absent in the U1423/GA test material.

Chart: Results on U1423/GA: β-agonists detection (retrieved from Progetto Trieste 2014, 2nd round- veterinary drug residues by Test Veritas S. r. l.)

Note: In-house method “41LCMS-C029 Beta-agonists (Clenbuterol & Salbutamol) (water & urine)” was used in this proficiency test. “41LCMS-C028 Beta-agonists (Clenbuterol & Salbutamol) (feed & premix)” is also available.

Microbiology

Microbiology

VFAD has also participated in two rounds of proficiency testing organized by IFM Quality Services Pty. Ltd., Australia, for microbiology tests in environmental water samples (14EW01). The tested parameters include:
  • Standard Plate Count
  • E. coli Count
  • Coliform Count
  • Mould Count
  • Yeast Count
We obtained very good results for both rounds with z-scores of ±1.5 for all tests, which means that our enumeration test results fell very close to the assigned values. With these results, we can ensure that our tests meet the requirements of quality assurance expected of an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.
